10 Tips To Help You With Your Stage Fright | Self Improvement ...

Public speaking and performing on stage are some of the most common fears of most human beings. Negative reactions of the performer will also add to his or her stage fright. However, this type of fear will not take you anywhere. To feel more confident, read the following ten tips on how to overcome your stage fright.?

1. Find a topic to talk about. Make sure you have something interesting to say before you take to the stage. Write a brief note about the subject and sound interested, otherwise your audience will be bored.?

2. Practice with friends or family. If you don?t know how to deliver your speech, practice it with the people around you. Call your friends and gather them in a hall, stand on stage and do your rehearsals. You may even bring a camcorder to record the entire performance, so that you can listen to it afterwards. Don?t be afraid to ask for feedback from your friends in order make improvements in your speech wherever necessary.?

3. Get plenty of rest before the big day. This is very important as having plenty of sleep will boost your energy and eliminate anxiety or any other nervous feelings you may have. Don?t let your nerves get the better of you. The more you think about the event, the more nervous you may become. Just let nature take its course.?

4. Get energised. The best suggestion for handling a nervous situation is to build your defense mechanism by exercising. An adrenaline rush will help you fight off your fear in the event of danger. What?s more, you will be able to suppress this negative energy and face it with confidence instead of running away from it.?

5. Acknowledge your fears and be positive. When you turn up to the event fully prepared, everything should go according to plan. Use positive mental attitude by speaking to yourself in an encouraging manner. Pretend you are a beloved family member facing their most difficult moment. This strategy will help calm you down and boost your confidence.?

6. Think about your past successes. It is better to connect with your past and recall the challenges that you overcame successfully. Draw upon those moments and build your inner strength.?

7. Participate and be a willing spirit. Try not to resist the challenge of speaking or performing on stage, as this will only heighten your fear.?

8. Prepare as much as possible. Before you take to the stage, imagine a positive experience you have had in the past, and learn to go with the flow. Allow the outcome of the situation to be whatever it is supposed to be, and have faith that things will work out at the end.?

9. Have a confident attitude. When you feel confident, it will show in your body posture. Even if you just pretend that you are feeling confident, your body language will automatically adapt.

10. Don?t think about it. Remember, it is not about you, so don?t make the performance or presentation be a proving ground for yourself. Just focus on the speech and speak in a clear and concise manner.
